Faith identity and Missional posture

As the Alliance for Vulnerable Mission, we are rooted in – but not restricted to – the Protestant tradition. Our mission practices resonate with the ethics expressed in the ecumenical document “Christian Witness in a Multi-Religious World”, developed with input from a range of church traditions, including evangelicals. Our faith understanding is in general agreement with the statement of faith of the Evangelical Alliance and the core documents of the Lausanne Movement. We particularly appreciate the missional vision of the latter.
At the same time, our work is guided by a posture of vulnerability — including theological vulnerability. We do not impose our own frameworks of orthodoxy on indigenous believers but trust the Spirit of God to guide people in engaging Scripture and following Jesus in their own languages, cultures, and forms of community. While we hold our own faith convictions, we seek to walk alongside rather than over others in the journey of discipleship and theological discovery.
