About Us

What we do
Together, we reflect on historical and contemporary mission practices. We aim to engage in constructive critique and point out alternatives. On the one hand, we equip mission practitioners. On the other hand, we contribute to missiological discourses. At the same time, many of us are ourselves active in intercultural Christian work in different parts of the world. In all this we seek to practise humility and the courage to be vulnerable towards others – an attitude we also recognise in the life and death of Jesus. We understand mission as accompaniment in humility, participating in and affirming what God is already doing. In this way we try to come close to people in their life situations, in their language, in their way of perceiving the world, and to serve God together with them in ways that fit their cultural and socio‑political context.
Our constructive critique focuses especially on the work of people from Western countries in the Global South. Vulnerable Mission is expressed above all in the use of local languages and locally available resources in ministry (or in key ministry areas).
